Twenty-six companies in this year’s Top 1000 list increased their online sales more than 50% in 2021 over the prior year. Many of them are benefiting from consumers returning to pre-pandemic shopping habits as COVID eases. For example, 10 of the 26 companies sell apparel or accessories, and three of those 10 sell shoes. Retailers in those categories benefited from many shoppers refreshing their wardrobes as they realized sweats and slippers would not suffice once they returned to work and social activities. The second-fastest-growing Top 1000 retailer, Olivela (No. 857), which sells women’s fashion, also catered to the growing consumer interest in supporting socially responsible companies. Olivela pledges to contribute 20% of the proceeds from its sales to charitable organizations.
