Amazon accounted for 40.7% of U.S. online retail sales in 2020 and has turned in record profits every quarter since the pandemic took hold in the early part of last year.
But while Amazon’s spectacular sales growth over the past decade has allowed it to expand into grocery and delivery as well as business-to-business ecommerce, serious threats of legal or regulatory action that could curb its growth loom large.
